So if my title didn't suggest enough, I just spent some time in La Crosse, Wisconsin, and it was one of the most charming places I've ever come across!
Like many cities, my time there was brief, but there were many good memories made. We arrived on Monday after a long yet AMAZING travel day (ok, so the travel wasn't so exciting, but our lunch break was AMAZING because I got to spend it at Petland. Who needs food when you can play with puppies?!). I had the evening to explore a bit, and this little town was literally out of a storybook. Little shops, themed bars and restaurants lined the Christmas-tree-lit streets, and it even snowed- it was like I was stepping into Bedford Falls from It's A Wonderful Life!
I only had shows on Tuesday and Wednesday evening, so I was spoiled with sleeping in and having some lazy days (a.k.a. my days starting in the early afternoon, going to our show, and spending the evening in the hot tub). This city didn't have a whole lot to offer (like, it's not a top vacation destination), but there were definitely memorable places. I visited a vintage style ice cream/ candy shop, which was connected to a coffee shoppe. Of course, I tasted selections from both places, and I was very pleased with the food and the atmosphere! I checked out the local music store, which had an amazing selection of instruments- unfortunately, I don't have any more room to learn a new instrument on tour! And if this little town couldn't get more magical, there was a used bookstore that even included a sliding ladder just like in Beauty and the Beast. I could've spent hours in that store browsing and reading books- I had my own Belle moment for sure! I even spent an evening at a bar for karaoke, which is something I haven't done in forever- naturally, my selections included a High School Musical duet and some Taylor Swift, and I had a blast!
If I had even just one more day in this city, I would've loved to check out some of the local art places- there was a pottery studio and a painting studio. I could've easily spent a whole day there creating different things! Some of the other bars and restaurants looked really neat too, and many of them had distinct themes (for example, a winter lodge or a 1970's starlight lounge), but alas, there just wasn't enough time!
I know this is a shorter post than most, but other than the charming places I already described, I watched Netflix and slept. This wasn't the most interesting post, I apologize- but if you ever find yourself in Wisconsin, La Crosse is an adorable place to spend a couple of days!
I'm on to Minneapolis, Minnesota next. It's crazy to think that I was there only a short five months ago when my whole journey on tour began! I'm excited to see what I'll do this time!
