My first trip to Kansas didn't include any crazy witch sightings or magical poppies, but I would still say that my short stay in Wichita was magical! However, I'm sure my experience would've been enhanced if I had some ruby slippers and traveled with a dog (note to self, work on this for the rest of the tour. Dogs and good shoes make everything better).
After our arrival on Thursday, the first evening was pretty uneventful. The weather was far to cold to go out and explore, so I enjoyed relaxing in the comfortable ambiance of the grandma's-house-like hotel. Seriously, the place was clean and charming, and all it really needed was some freshly baked cookies to add that extra element of feeling at home. We also had a killer balcony overlooking into the hotel, which was nice to be able to listen to the live music, or embrace your inner Eva Peron (which I absolutely did. Don't cry for me, Wichita).
Friday morning rolled around far too quickly, and my day began before the sun came up- I got to appear on some different new channels with my Sesame Street friends! It was a long morning to say the least, but the news crew was so much fun to work with. Check out my friends and I invading the KWCH News Studio!

Later that day, we got to chat about our show on KAKE News!

A nap was much needed after a busy morning, and my Friday night was spent going to see Star Wars: Rogue One at a local movie theatre. I enjoy going to the movies, but this theatre was the next-level-experience- we got to view the movie in the special Director's Lounge with reclining chairs and a full service menu. I don't know a whole lot about the Star Wars franchise, but I wasn't lost during the movie at all. As a stand alone film, it was amazing, and the female lead was so bad a**. I was so sad when the movie was over! (SPOILER: the ending is kinda sad, and having to leave those comfy chairs was disappointing too.)
Saturday and Sunday were busy with shows (who DOESN'T love a three show Saturday?! I definitely treated myself to froyo after that one). We're only about a week away from hitting our 100th show! It's crazy to think that since this journey began in August, we've come so far- and still have to far to go!
But probably THE COOLEST thing that I experienced in this particular venue was getting to see some of the past concert displays. Along the halls and backstage, there are autographed posters of different bands and singers that performed previously at the arena. Well what do you know, on August 6th, 2013 do you know who performed there?! Frickin' TAYLOR SWIFT. I can now say I've performed in the same venue as Taylor Swift and needless to say I was losing my s*** with excitement. I wish they would've been able to give me that poster as a souvenir, but alas, I left empty handed. I don't know about you, but I was enchanted to perform in the same venue as my absolute favorite female singer previously had- I was so thrilled, I could't shake it off! (Alright, alright I'm done with the song references now. If it wasn't clear, I was very enthusiastic about this venue.)
I'd say the first full week of 2017 was a great start- on to exploring more of the Midwest (and an eleven hour bus ride! Woo hoo!) Up next: Dubuque, Iowa!
See you somewhere over the rainbow,

Our adorable hotel!
The Old Town Movie Theatre- such an awesome place!
Welcome to Oz! (actually the Intrust Bank Arena) Sadly, I did not get a picture by the Taylor Swift poster, but it will be in my heart forever.
A neat mural on the walk back to the hotel- to thine own self be true!
